Starbucks & SOGIMEX: The CERECEM Project
Over the past five years, Starbucks and SOGIMEX (our subsidiary in Honduras) have worked together through the CERECEM project to support coffee farmers and strengthen sustainable supply chains.

In September 2026, the two organisations presented key achievements from the 2025–2026 crop year, highlighting ongoing efforts to strengthen supply chains that meet the C.A.F.E. Practices Verification Standard.

A key milestone was SOGIMEX’s fourth Farmers’ Convention, held under the theme “Climate, Resilience, Costs and Opportunities.” The event brought together more than 1,800 farmers to recognise and promote practices that support more resilient and sustainable coffee production.

Discussions focused on integrated production systems, fair social policies, environmental stewardship, improved family livelihoods and the adoption of good agricultural practices.

Together, these approaches aim to help farmers improve profitability while strengthening their ability to adapt to changing weather patterns and other challenges facing agriculture in the region.

Through the CERECEM project, SOGIMEX and Starbucks continue to work towards more resilient coffee supply chains, promoting sustainable agricultural practices and supporting farmers in navigating the challenges facing the sector.
