Food Tech Summit 2026: Shaping the future of cocoa
By Jocelyn Quintero Vargas
In an environment where innovation, sustainability, and market understanding are becoming increasingly important, the Food Tech Summit has established itself as one of the leading meeting points for the food and beverage industry in Latin America. Each year, it brings together more than 500 national and international exhibitors, creating a unique platform for networking and business development.

This year, the Mexico Cocoa Team exhibited at the expo to strengthen relationships with customers and strategic partners, connecting with new prospects, and gaining first-hand insight into the trends shaping the future of our industry.
Discussions at the event highlighted the resilience of the chocolate industry. Despite the current challenges, consumer interest in real chocolate remains strong, demonstrating the enduring appeal of chocolate even as demand faces pressure.
Sustainability was another recurring theme, with growing customer interest in responsible supply chains, supported by recognised certifications and higher environmental standards. This reflects the importance of continuing to strengthen sustainability initiatives, working closely with producers and supporting cocoa production at origin.
The event also provided an opportunity to explore new business opportunities, technological developments and emerging markets for cocoa and chocolate products. The presence of new competitors and suppliers further highlighted the evolving and competitive nature of the industry.

Overall, Food Tech Summit 2026 offered valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges shaping the cocoa and chocolate sector. As the market continues to evolve, sustainability, innovation and collaboration across the supply chain will remain important to building a resilient and responsible future for the industry.
