Women as the Next Wave of Growth
This year’s International Women’s Day theme, Give to Gain, resonates strongly with our Women as the Next Wave of Growth initiative.
In Huila, Colombia, in collaboration with Lavazza, ECOM is working to strengthen women’s capacity to take part in decision-making, lead change, and build more equitable futures for their families and communities.
Through awareness-raising, capacity building, and practical training, it promotes self-sufficiency, leadership, and the active participation of women in farm decision-making and management, strengthening both family dynamics and the sustainability of coffee production. In just two years, women's participation in farm management and decision-making increased by 92% and 71% of women said they now felt capable of planning and managing the future of their farms.
By giving women better access to knowledge, resources, and opportunities, we are gaining stronger farms, more resilient communities, and sustainable growth for the entire sector. We are proud to highlight the women shaping the next wave of growth in coffee.
