C Dorman Innovates Natural Coffee Processing Methods

Earlier this year, C. Dorman partnered with Submarine to revolutionize to explore innovative natural and honey processing methods that elevate the quality of Kenyan coffees. The partnership aims to meet the rising global demand for distinctive, high-quality naturals through science-driven experimentation and responsible agronomy.

This collaboration extends to the Coffee Management agronomist team at Kofinaf's Estates, where the project is ongoing; Ruera, Mchana, and Oakland Estates, all located in Kiambu County. It focuses on processing only fully ripe SL28 cherries, with several experimental techniques currently being piloted and refined.

Among the methods being trialed are:

  1. 1. Lactic Fermentation
  2. 2. Carbonic Maceration
  3. 3. Taco Roll Natural
  4. 4. Yeast Inoculated Honey

Each batch is rigorously evaluated, and only those that meet the highest standards are selected for export. Only once the quality is approved is the coffee packed and prepared for export.

At Dorman, we're committed to supporting farmers and pioneering innovative approaches to meet the growing demand for special prepped natural coffees.
