Striving for Excellence in Cotton
Excellence is the third of our ECOM Group values highlighted in our series of Values Focus Months. This month, we hear from Jaynil Patel, Operations Director for Cotton, on how excellence begins with the fundamentals: the way we manage our supply chain and serve our customers.
Every stage of our work, from data management to shipment tracking, offers an opportunity to adapt, refine, and improve. By keeping customers at the center and holding ourselves to the highest standards, we show what it means to strive for operational excellence every day. True to ECOM’s ethos, we adapt, we continue to improve, and we strive to be better than yesterday.
Excellence is about more than efficiency; it’s about empowering people with the right tools, generating meaningful insights, and working together towards our shared ambition of being the Best Supply Chain Manager.
To achieve this, our cotton division has been implementing analytical and customer-centric tools such as Microsoft CRM and Power BI to reorganize our teams in line with the One ECOM vision. These steps are making information more accessible, encouraging greater collaboration among Profit Centers, and managing risks with greater confidence.
Three key initiatives highlight how our team is bringing the 3 A’s (Accessibility, Analytics, and Automation) into practice:
- • Opening access to cotton data – giving colleagues information at their fingertips, improving transparency and speeding up decision-making.
- • Centralizing customer information – creating a single hub for client records, ensuring accuracy and building a deeper understanding of our clients.
- • Simplifying reporting – replacing complex spreadsheets and fragmented datasets with dashboards that are clear, timely, and easy to use.
Through these initiatives, the Cotton division’s progress is already making a difference, and the journey doesn’t stop here. Both the customer information platform and reporting tools are now being prepared for rollout across other commodities, ensuring that the benefits of Cotton’s innovations are shared across the wider Group.
By adapting, continuing to improve, and striving to be better than yesterday, we are helping to set the benchmark for operational excellence at ECOM.
