Nestle Income Accelerator Programme 2024 Progress Report
In 2021, Nestlé launched the pilot of the Income Accelerator Program (‘Accelerator’ or the ‘Program’) in Côte d’Ivoire, as part of their ambition to help close the Living Income (LI) gap in their cocoa supply chain and focus on the root causes of child labor risks. The pilot included 1,000 farming households across two cooperatives registered with one tier-1 supplier.
In early 2022, the program was expanded to include an additional 10,000 farming households in Côte d’Ivoire in the so-called test-at-scale phase. These households were registered in 18 cooperatives enlisted with six tier-1 suppliers of Nestlé.
In 2024, the Income Accelerator Program will scale to 30,000 cocoa farming households and expand to Ghana – with a first pilot phase among 2,000 cocoa farming households. The research carried out here was done by KIT Royal Tropical Institute.
